World Boutique Hotel Awards
EP was delighted to attend the World Boutique Hotel Awards held at the Montcalm Hotel, Marble Arch on Thursday 28th of November. In its second year, the keynote speech was given by Richard Hytner, Worldwide Deputy Chairman of Saatchi and Saatchi. Attended by a global audience, awards were given to the best boutique hotels by region, by categories such as Blissful Beach and Romantic Retreat and of course one hotel received the ultimate compliment by being awarded World’s Best Boutique Hotel.
Mihir Garh in Rajasthan, India (pictured above) was lucky enough to take the top title during the ceremony. It was also recognized as a winner in the Romantic Retreat. Owned by a couple, Rashmi and Sidharth Singh (pictured below) worked hard to create and realize the vision that they had for the hotel amidst the vast wilderness of the Thar desert. The Singh family’s ancestors were former feudal lords of Rohet and the surrounding desert since 1622. Mihir Garh is their newest retreat and was built entirely from materials around the area. The hotel was constructed to look like an old fort in the middle of the dessert and is a somewhat surreal sight rising out of the dunes. Rashmi is said to have personally designed and selected everything from the door knobs and curtain holders to the colour schemes that hold it all together. There are only nine suites in the hotel however each is larger than 1700 square feet and include their own plunge pools.

Hotel Tresanton in Cornwall for Inspired Design and finally the
