The final Entrepreneur Pitch for 2016 was held this week at Joelson Law firm where 4 entrepreneurs presented their exciting business to a room of industry experts. The Entrepreneurs Pitch supports the many new ideas coming into the sector and continues to bring together companies and innovators.
EP would like to thank the pitchers, all attendees and Joelson for providing the perfect environment for the pitches
The event kicked off with Natasha and Sophie Phillpotts-Dowding, two budding entrepreneurs who shared their recent success story of the signing of their first design contract as Interior and Fashion Design consultants and founders of Phillpotts Dowding Ltd.
Next up was Jack from Syft, a mobile and web app bringing a cost-effective, efficient and high quality temp staffing solution to hospitality clients. Jack showed how their model will help save up to 55% agency fees and ensure that employers always have access to vetted and quality staff thanks to a training and a rating system.
John then introduced ZooT, a variety of tasty premium snack bars that are packed with fruit, nuts, lovely chocolate chips and some with no added sugar. Totally Gluten free and certified vegetarian, John noted how healthy products are now becoming extremely popular especially with the proposed introduction of the Sugar Tax. The challenge for many businesses is making sure to offer a product that makes their customers feel better but that also taste delicious.
To follow was Scottish National Champion and National Champion, Angela Wilson who presented her business Angela’s Swim School. Her passion for swimming led her to create a business and then franchise it teach swimming to children and adults of any ability, some from being non-swimmers to competing at professional levels. Angela’s mission is to make sure students learn to enjoy swimming, and help them to grow as individuals. Her growing success led to the establishment of the first Angela’s Swim School franchise in 2014. Since then, growth has exploded to 17 franchises.
Finishing the pitches was Max of Hotelflex, an online hotel booking platform allowing guests to choose when they wish to check in and check out of their room by paying a pro rata amount for the length of their stay. An interesting app that gets inside guests habits and how to address customers’ needs.
The presentations finished with networking over drinks and canapes, where the panel got any further questions answered, and the presenters got a chance to relax.
The big players are often interested in the new and up-and-coming ideas which can truly provide substantial value for all. For the entrepreneurs it is a perfect place where they can interact with each other and learn and grow.
It is an exciting time and EP is proud to help many along their journeys. We look forward to further great success in 2017.
