Ten things which raised an eyebrow this week

EP brings you a brief round-up of some of the news items which were perhaps as surprising as they were enlightening

  1. People who walk while texting, Americanisms, reality TV, premier league footballers, Z-list celebrities, train fares, fad diets, pets wearing clothes, being outbid on Ebay and Justin Bieber are just some of The 50 Things we Hate about Modern Life
  2. Meanwhile, children have been recorded attempting to come to terms with “old technology” they’ve never seen before including the Sony Walkman
  3. A case of severe over reaction? Despite being reassured there is no threat to public safety or health, authorities have nonetheless decided to go ahead with plans to dispose of 38million gallons of treated water just because a 19 year old man urinated in an open reservoir
  4. In other bathroom news, a petition has been signed by over 400 people in Woking to replace a public toilet which has a tendency to knock users off the seat, open the door unexpectedly and drowns users in a powerful jet of “flush water”
  5. A case of ruff justice? A 4 year old German shepherd has been called up for Jury Duty in the States when its owners (jokingly) registered him on their postal service information
  6. Walmart in Washington has come under fire after a photo of the Express Lanes in-store inadvertently suggested English speakers could move faster than their Spanish speaking counterparts
  7. Police in France have called off the search for “missing” two year old Chayson Basinio when it transpired the child only existed on Facebook
  8. Part of a larger effort to raise significant cash, the Italian Government are selling a 99 year lease for an island dubbed The World’s Most Haunted
  9. Looking for something different for dinner this weekend? From the restaurant located 16ft under water to another in a limestone cavern, here’s a list of some of the most unusual restaurants in the world
  10. Looking forward to some lovely weather this weekend – for adults only, the Viagra ice-cream has aroused lots of interest… Enjoy!
