The above point was made during a forum in a recently held at the excellent Lainston House Hotel. Such a simple point. Top performers and athletes do build rest into their schedules.
The above is often attributed to a Navy Seal. However, interestingly, the quote has also been attributed to the Greek lyrical poet, Archilochus, which does show that this is a discussion piece as old as time. It also perhaps illustrates the point that most struggle with pressure and change; more than we admit?
There are many who find comfort in “it is the way it has always been done” and “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it” and that is often totally understandable. Change is challenging. Risk is fear filled. Not having all the answers is weakness. But is this thinking really the truth?
The UK Food and Beverage Sector has had a good few years fuelled by challenge and change. From Brexit to Covid, during which one cannot forget the difficulty involving the Suez Canal, the cost inflation crisis, impact of labour shortages, increased utilities and that is all before we consider the ongoing affects of the War on Ukraine.
